OK folks, I have finally learned how to create and upload video from my Mac, so here is Rip's ski video debut...it's about 9 minutes long, and I promise to make a short version of most of my videos in the future, just not today. Enjoy!
watching it snow in Vail, from the comfort of the condo's cozy/funky early 80s couch. tuli curled up next to me and blessedly snoozing (she has been a barky, crazy puppy this weekend. "I must defend this condo!"). HGTV on the tube. 3rd cup of coffee in front of me, Sunset magazine open next to me. ok, so it's the October 2009 issue. i'm a little behind in my leisure reading. coffee table is strewn with knitting stuff (yarn, needles, book, 3 partly completed projects), magazines, The Wire Season 2 (DVD -- awesome!). Don't I sound lazy AND domestic, all at the same time?
did I mention I am still in my pjs?
biggest plans today: to go into the village to meet up with my skiing peeps before R's DEVO program is done for the day. We're planning to grab an early bite to eat at Larkspur (Golden Peak), pack up and head for home. Hoping for good weather and little traffic.
also hoping to learn some movie magic tomorrow at my Apple one-to-one appointment tomorrow so that I can post some skiing video of the Ripster. stay tuned.
She seems so grown up sometimes, like in this photo with the hand on her cheek.
I made two aprons for Ripley's coffee shop (run out of a tent in her room) -- it's called Pom Tree Cafe.
Currently, Rip's friend Emma works the weekend shifts, and Rip is the barista during the week.
Before school, we met up with Rip's friend Caroline (above) to bounce at The Hop (full of inflatable bouncy things).
I dropped off cookies for Ripley's class to enjoy during snack time.
R opened her gifts before we headed out for dinner.
Barbie in A Mermaid Tale was a big hit - DVD, a mermaid barbie, and the mermaid slide/shower thing-a-ma-bobber.
Tuli really liked the packaging.
A surf-themed kleenex box for R's surfer girl room and a wave-themed trash can were some fun finds from Goodwill!
Rip had a quick happy birthday phone call from LaLa and Fwey right before she opened her big gift (wrapped up in a new beach towel)...
...a My Little Pony sparkly castle that we found at a garage sale last summer. Rip says she knew that I bought it, but I don't think she knew until she opened it. It is the funniest thing -- you can use this magnetic wand to automatically open the front doors and to "pop the top" -- expanding the castle two levels upward. Cracks me up. Rip loves it.
After the unwrapping, we headed out for dinner at California Cafe (Rip's choice -- yes, she has some pretty expensive tastes). It was a big day/night.
...a surfer girl themed art party at Monart next weekend. Then I can breathe a big sigh of relief and move on to other things!
The kindergartener, not the mom (but indirectly I get a lazy day too!)
breakfast, snacks, lunch in bed so far; 2 episodes of Scooby-Doo (the original Seasons 1 and 2, none of that Scrappy Doo nonsense), 3 HGTV shows, and now Monsters vs. Aliens.
Rip has Bronchitis (diagnosed yesterday) and is on antibiotics, so we are planning for school/Spanish Club/Daisy Scouts tomorrow. She was VERY disturbed about missing a day of kindergarten. She has mentioned multiple times today that she plans NEVER to miss another day of kindergarten again. Wow. Dedication.
We've also caught up on some reading today -- Rip finished Magic Tree House #4 (chapter book) and has read a few chapters of a Judy Moody book, while I read the newspaper, a few magazines, and now to catch up on some blog reading...if only Rip was sick more often, I'd get a chance to catch up I guess!
